We’re Excited: JetBlue Is Expanding Its Mint Product Routes!

The best lie-flat domestic business class, coming to an airport near you

Yesterday, via their blog, JetBlue announced that it will be expanding the routes on which it flies their Mint product, which is easily the best transcon business class you’ll find on a domestic airline. The best first class designation goes to American and their 1-1 reverse herringbone configured A321T (32B), but JetBlue has the best business class — it’s a 1-1 configuration in rows 2 and 4, and each of these four seats has a sliding door, effectively making this seat the only domestic “suite” in operation. The best part? If booked reasonably early, these seats are super cheap ($1,200 round trip) when compared to the likes of AA, United, and Delta, whose tickets often run you upwards of $2,500 round trip.

Where to?

Currently, the B6 Mint cabins fly from SFO to BOS and JFK; LAX to JFK, and JFK to AUA (Aruba) and BDI (Barbados). The expansion adds SEA to JFK and BOS (yay!), SFO and LAX to FLL, SAN to JFK and BOS, BOS to AUA, and JFK to both SXM (St. Maarten) and UVF (St. Lucia). Check out the map below for a visual:

As you can see, that’s quite the expansion. Clearly this cabin targets the business and high end leisure traveler, but given the prices that these seats go for, I think JetBlue will find a lot of converts (including defecting Virgin America loyalists!) who may be accustomed to paying $1,100 for a RT economy fare on, say, Delta (been there!) — paying $1,200 for the Mint experience is a no-brainer.

So what now?

Well, it might be worth racking up some JetBlue points! Getting a jumpstart is easy with the two JetBlue credit cards offered by Barclaycard. The JetBlue Card offers a 10,000 point signup bonus, while The JetBlue Plus Card offers a 30,000 point signup bonus, and each card will get you 6x bonus points on top of any other points you’d earn when purchasing airfare from JetBlue.com.
